Fun Facts
1) I lived in 3 different countries: born in hong kong, Nepal (1-8), Hong Kong(8-12), Los Angeles, USA(13-now)
2) I have great listening skills but poor speaking skills
3) I got hit by a car twice in my life, so far
4) I have a black belt in taekwondo (3 years total), taekwondo mainly teaches self-defense and emphasizes using kicks. You could punch somebody in the face and it might hurt them, but if you kick them directly in the head, they will be knocked out. You don’t have to be strong or big to be effective. One of the main lessons taekwondo teaches is, using your body’s momentum to add extra force to your kicks. You could do a normal front kick and they might might be hurt a little. If you decide to do a half body spin, lean your upper body down, and kick the person behind you, it will hurt a lot more. Even if they block it, they will be pushed back by the extra force. The only downside is that while kicks have more power, they are slower than punches and they leave you more vulnerable because every time you do a kick, you are balancing on one leg. That’s why it’s mainly for self-defense. It’s super satisfying to kick those chicken leg shaped pads that make a whack sound every time you kick it. It’s also fun breaking wood planks with your fists and with your feet. You have to clean up afterwards though. The colors are from white to yellow to green to blue to red to black with a half-half color in between (11 levels total).
5) I was in idol school for two months training in dancing and singing but I never made it as an official idol because I placed third. Cute looks is the bare minimum but having good looks and singing is what impresses judges and recruiters. I was forced to so I wasn’t too happy about spending everyday of my summer doing dance recitals and singing till my throat hurt to Nepali pop songs.
6) I was largely involved in volunteering groups back in SMC. I initially joined because I was super lonely and needed to make friends so I ended up joining the board and I have no regrets since then. I grew a lot socially and it helped me gain more confidence and break out of my family’s pressure and control. I would be in medical school studying to be a doctor only to please my parents if it weren’t for AGS.
7) I was part of the student council in SMC. I ran for election and campaigned and only won my third time.
8) I deployed for 9-10 months in middle east dealing with military passengers in Qatar and Kuwait.
9) I used to be a huge manga addict back in 7th grade. I used to stay up all night binge reading manga chapters of Naruto from start to the current release. The lights go off in my room and I am reading manga chapters on my small 2010 Samsung Galaxy S. I be binge reading for hours non-stop until I look outside the window and I see the sun rising up. I get ready to go to school and within 5 minutes of sitting down on my classroom desk, I knock out on the back. I was horrible student back then, getting into fights, being the class clown, and having detention at least once a week.
10) I love walking at nights. When I am walking out there at night, it’s just usually me out there with some occasional cars passing by and some random people walking their dogs. It’s super relaxing, I don’t have the sun burning off my face and I can look up at the night sky and admire the stars and the beautiful moon. It’s also my therapy session where I often take the time to reflect and think about my past, how am I right now, and what I want to do in the future. Initially, I might start walking with music on but as the thoughts start to fill my head, I put the volume to 0 with the headphones still in as I start reflecting.
11) I did a naked run at UC Berkeley library Spring 2022 with my close friend Kim
12) I spent 24 hours straight in the Main Stacks Library in UC Berkeley. It is a huge library and it feels more like an underground bomb shelter than an actual library. I was studying for my Economic Analysis final exam doing practice exam over and over again. I think I took a 5 hour nap at the 12th hour mark on the floor with my jacket and eyemask on. It was freezing. I felt like I was in a fridge even with 3 layers of clothing on. It was fun though, I got to enjoy a bit of the Berkeley experience. Now all I have to do is join a frat, do some college events, and graduate with a full-time job hopefully.
13) I love learning about people. This is my personal belief. I believe that there is no such thing as a boring person. I believe that each person is unique and a story worth listening to about whether its about how they grew up, an interesting hobby, or certain dreams or aspirations they have. Each person is special in their own way and I want to learn about them better.
-After my shitty 7th grade experience, my self-esteem and social skills dropped to almost 0. As a result, I became quiet and rarely talked in conversations as I let the other person do the talking while I asked them questions and made comments to keep them talking. People liked talking to me because all I do is listen. As a result, people started opening up more and more about themselves. Topics shifted from different countries they want to visit to their childhood upbringings of how they grew up without their parents present which made them more independent and wanting to explore more as a result.
