90

90. If you could go back in time, what would you say to your best friend at age 10? (05/13/2023)

Not much. I didn't meet my current best friend until I was 15 years old studying AP world history during my sophomore year in high school. When I was 10, I was still living in Hong Kong and my best friend back then was Yojan who I studied together with from Grade 3-6. I haven't talked with him since I moved to the US when I was 13. I don't think I would say anything different to them at age 10.
It's best for both of us that way. It's very difficult to maintain a friendship when you live on opposite sides of the globe. Sure, we could text each other and play video games online and meet up every few years. However, plane tickets for that distance cost thousands of dollars which doesn’t include hotel stays and food. That time and energy could be used towards friends that already live near you. With them, you can do almost anything whether its traveling, having drinks, or helping one another. I am not a huge fan of long-distance relationships whether its friendship or partnership. I understand if the separation is temporary but if its long-term, its bound to fail eventually. With almost everyone from Hong Kong, I have cut ties with for the sake of my relationships at the US.
