1. Outside the Window: What’s the weather outside your window doing right now? If that’s not inspiring, what’s the weather like somewhere you wish you could be? (02/18/2023)

=Well, I am in Kuwait right now and its 07:15 am. It is freezing cold outside, the sun is barely rising from its sleep, and every gust of wind is making me shiver. Normally, this would be perfect weather for me to put on my sweatpants, crocs with socks, and my Michelin tire jacket, and walk outside with the hood on. Unfortunately, I am at work and my uniform is not warm enough to make me enjoy being outside in the current weather.

To make it even more perfect, remove the wind, remove the sun, add some rain, and give me a black umbrella. Boom! Perfect weather to walk outside in or to just sit outside under the metal roof and watch the rain pour as you enjoy a nice cup of mud coffee or a short cigarette break.

The wind reminds me of the weather back in Oklahoma while I was doing basic training in Fort Sill. Oklahoma is the tornado capital of the United States and it was windy almost everyday. The grey skies with dead-green valleys with no trees makes you feel depressed just by looking at it. There is nothing to look at, so your thoughts fill your head and you start rethinking your life choices.

I think about the time I slipped on a farm and face-landed on some fresh cow dung with some onion and cabbage residue still in it. I think about the time when I walked straight into a stop sign pole and hit my head so bad that it started bleeding. I was the cause of the only safety briefing my platoon ever had throughout deployment. I look back on these moments and I wonder how the fuck am I still alive if I am so stupid. Maybe god gave me a shit ton of luck to make up for my stupidity so I don’t die at an early age.

Here is an image of a pole. The page felt empty without a picture.
