69 What was the last thing you bought for yourself? Was it something you really loved or needed, or just to pass the time? (04/29/2023)

The last thing I bought for myself was earplugs. At night, it is often noisy with other people speaking or jets flying over so the earplugs give me much needed silence to fall asleep and to stay asleep. I really need silence to sleep at this point whether I have jets flying over while I am deployed or while I am at college with party animals at night. Not just for sleep, silence also helps me think clearly without all the noise. It gives me peace and quiet.
The last thing I bought for myself as a treat was my Xbox Series S. It was for all three reasons. I did it to pass the time to make the deployment go faster. However, I also wanted to play the new resident evil 4 remake and I wanted to finish Elden Ring before I went back to the states.
A repeating purchase of mine is a pack of Haribo Cola Gummies. I don't know why but this is my favorite snack. Maybe it's the softness of the gummies when I bite into it I love or the sweet cola flavor as the gummy starts breaking down in my mouth. As a kid, they were not my favorite snacks. My favorite snack was microwaving a sausage from the freezer and eating it after cooking it for 30-45 seconds or whenever the sausage starts to make sizzling or exploding noises. It was super easy, we had loads of sausage in my fridge and I could never get enough of sausages back then. I used to drink lots of Coca Cola as a kid so it could be the flavor of the gummies I can't get enough of. My favorite candy was the Mentos Cola flavored ones. While growing up in Nepal, whenever you went to visit someone in their home, they wouldn't offer you water, tea, or coffee. They would offer you coke either from outside or from the fridge. Almost every household had coke whether you were in the village-side or in the city. Me being a kid, I always drank a lot of coke whenever we went to visit relatives or had family gatherings. Whenever I get upset or stress, I crave the Haribo Cola Gummies like its crack cocaine. For some reason, I don't crave the actual drink Coca Cola. Part of the reason is that drinking too much soda made my teeth feel very weak and oftentimes fragile due to the carbonated water and the acidity. I rarely drink anything other than water as a result. However, Cola gummies don't make my teeth hurt and they are really fun to chew so I can't stop buying them.
