120. What’s one thing that makes people happy that doesn’t cost money but can only be bought with time? (06/13/2023)
Spending time with others. It's in the name "spending time". While it doesn't directly cost money, money does help. If you and your friends live far away, you need both money for the transportation and the time to spend it together. Nothing is fully free. Even relaxing for 15 minutes isn't free. Sure, all you have to do is sit down on a bench and relax for free. However, most of us have to work/pay for our rent. We need to make money to survive. If we need $4000 to survive every month, then we need $14.4 just to relax for 15 minutes. Time is always being spent so we have to use it wisely.
Spending time with others doesn't automatically make us happy. The people you are with and the activities dictate the amount of happiness you get from it. Playing board games and drinking late night with your best friends gives a different amount of happiness compared to grabbing a coffee and making small talk with your coworkers. Depth of conversation matters. I feel hooked when we talk about deep stuff like our pasts and dreams but I feel bored when we talk about shallow shit like the daily news or favorite places to vacation. The deeper the conversation goes, the more I learn about others. I feel upset when I am in a group conversation and all they talk about is their favorite shows or celebrity gossip. I keep thinking about all the other things I could be doing with this time. At a certain point, I either ask one of them a personal question or walk away.
121. + 122. Write in detail about a day when everything went well. How old were you at the time and what were the circumstances for that day of perfect happiness?(06/13/2023)
I do not have a day when everything went well. Everyday has its own bullshit to deal with, some have more than others.
I was 21 and it was the day after my parents left for New York. They wanted to travel to see the East Coast with my grandparents. I declined because I am not a big fan of traveling, especially with my family. I stayed home alone for almost a week. The first day of me being alone, everything went well. I walked to Target and bought bread, turkey slices, sandwich sauce, relish, ruffles, bacon, and eggs. I cooked my favorite breakfast, two bacon strips and 4 fried eggs with some orange juice. That kept me full till lunch. For lunch, I toasted two slices of bread and made myself a sandwich. The sauce highly determines whether your sandwich tastes good or bad. After lunch, I mainly played Resident Evil 2 remake in my room, and watched some Youtube. I did some push-ups and pull-ups whenever I had to go to the restroom. For dinner, I made myself cup noodles with 2 boiled eggs. It was some gourmet shit.
After dinner, I walked around the neighborhood for about an hour or two, walking along the main road and inside the parks. Walking eased my soul. It gave me a sense of peace like nothing else in the world. After my walk, I cleaned the house with the Swiffer and mop. Before I called it a night, I would watch a movie to bore me to sleep.
I could do whatever I want with nobody to judge me. I was free and I was happy.
